PESHAWAR, September 30: Leader of the opposition in the parliament Mr Khurshid Shah, who is affiliated with the Pakistan People’s Party, has proposed Prime Minister Mr Nawaz Sharif to resign and hold mid-term elections.

Mr Shah told media that Pakistan People’s Party supports democracy and parliament. “Premier Nawaz Sharif must take a step for revival of democracy and hold mid-term elections,” he added.

The opposition leader said the strict behaviour of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehrik leaders adamant on resignation of the prime minister was not a right way of protest but that such kind of situation emerged because of the weaknesses of the government.

Previously, the Pakistan People’s Party supported the prime minister and asked him not to resign when the PAT and PTI activists staged long march on the federal capital Islamabad and it had declared that the demand of resignation from the premier was unconstitutional. However, it has changed its stance now.
