Orakzai Tribes Hold Grand Jirga Against Headquarters Relocation to Kalaya

Addressing the Jirga, Malik Lal Man Shah, Mufti Muhammad Tahir, and other tribal leaders stated that the unanimous demand of the Orakzai tribes is to establish the headquarters in Sampog, Central Orakzai, rather than move it to Kalaya.

Hangu – The Orakzai tribes organized a grand Jirga to protest against the relocation of the Orakzai headquarters from Hangu to Lower Orakzai’s Kalaya. A large number of tribal elders and representatives participated in the gathering.

Addressing the Jirga, Malik Lal Man Shah, Mufti Muhammad Tahir, and other tribal leaders stated that the unanimous demand of the Orakzai tribes is to establish the headquarters in Sampog, Central Orakzai, rather than move it to Kalaya.

The tribal elders highlighted that after the FATA merger, the region has been deprived of basic facilities such as healthcare, education, water, electricity, and mobile network services. They warned that shifting the headquarters to Kalaya would further exacerbate the difficulties of the Upper Orakzai tribes.

They urged the government to retain the headquarters in Hangu until its construction in Sanpog. The elders also threatened a complete boycott of government affairs if their demand was not met.
