Orphanage Overseer Arrested for Murder of 6-Year-Old Girl in Lower Dir

Ayesha was admitted to the orphanage a few days before her death.

Dir police have arrested the overseer (Mohtamim) of Dar-ul-Umar on charges of killing 6-year-old Ayesha in Lower Dir. According to the family of the victim, Ayesha was admitted to the orphanage a few days before her death.

Zia-ul-Haq, the overseer of the orphanage, claimed that Ayesha's death was accidental, caused by quilts falling on her in one of the rooms. 

He stated, "We informed Ayesha's family and the local police to inspect the scene and reassure them that the girl's death was accidental. When neither the police nor Ayesha's family arrived, we took Ayesha's body to her house."

However, family members and locals reported that Ayesha was brought to the hospital with injuries and that post-mortem examinations revealed marks of torture on her body.

In light of these findings, the police have now arrested Zia-ul-Haq on charges of Ayesha's murder.
