PESHAWAR, May 9: Advisor to the chief minister, Ms Meher Taj Roghani, says authorities have closed more than 3000 non-government organisations during the last several months.
Meher Taj Roghani told a gathering on 8 May that more than 4,000 NGOs had been registered in the province while only 950 of them have been operational. She added that serious action would be taken against the illegal and “ghost” NGOs.
The advisor said those wishing to register their NGOs should fulfill the criteria set by the government for 16 different fields.
She said the government would support the organisations working in health, education, environment and drug control sectors.
