Pakistan's Ministry of Interior has decided to launch a nationwide crackdown against Afghan nationals residing in the country illegally, directing all four provinces, Islamabad, and relevant law enforcement agencies to take immediate action.
According to an official notification issued by the ministry, the identification of illegally residing Afghan nationals must be completed by 10 July 2026. Beginning 11 July, authorities will start arresting all Afghan nationals living in Pakistan without valid legal documents or a valid visa.

The notification instructs the chief secretaries and inspectors general of police (IGPs) of all four provinces, the Islamabad administration, and other relevant authorities to ensure strict implementation of the Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Plan (IFRP).
The Ministry of Interior has also directed authorities to submit daily reports on arrests and other enforcement actions starting from 11 July. The notification describes the campaign as the government's "top priority" and orders all concerned institutions to ensure effective and timely implementation of the directives.
