Parachinar and other parts of Kurram district have remained cut off for the past five days after a series of kidnappings and killings triggered serious security concerns, causing major hardship for local residents.
Police said that Haji Kakay, a leader of the Mali Khel tribe in Upper Kurram, and Riaz Khan, a resident of Bushera village, were abducted by unidentified armed men and later killed. Their bodies were recovered from remote, uninhabited areas, heightening fears of further violence.

Following the incidents, authorities closed the main highway and all key connecting routes as a precautionary security measure, bringing movement of people and goods to a halt. Residents report shortages of food, fuel, and medical access due to the prolonged road closures.
Meanwhile, the district administration said the security situation is under constant review and efforts are underway to reopen the roads and restore normal life as soon as possible.
