BATTAGRAM, September 3: The Paramedical Association of Battagram has protested for not being paid their wages of polio and measles campaigns.

At a rally in front of media room of the district hospital, the protesters said that the workers participated in the polio and measles campaigns from January to March 2014 but they had not been given their wages till date.

“We are performing our duties despite poor law and order and harsh weather in a mountainous area like Battagram but none of our health workers has got salary. Moreover, the paramedics have paid the teachers, who were also involved in the campaigns, from their pockets; now the government must pay us,” said one of the speakers.

When contacted, District Health Officer of Battagram, Dr Mushtaq, said it was the problem of the entire province and that authorities were trying to resolve this issue.
