A woman was killed by her husband in Peshawar’s Rampura Gate area. Police arrested four members of her in-laws’ family, including her husband, within a few hours of the incident.

According to police, Shahid Gulfat Hussain police reached the scene after receiving information about the incident and shifted the victim’s body to a hospital for post-mortem.

Police said a case was registered against the husband and other family members on the complaint of the victim’s father, Najam Iqbal, and an investigation was launched.

Following the orders of SP City Division Shahid Adnan, a special team was formed under the supervision of DSP Hashtnagri Circle Waris Khan. The team, led by SHO Shahid Gulfat Hussain police station Saleem Khan Khalil, arrested the victim’s husband Zohaib, his brother Zubair, sister and mother.

According to police, the arrested husband confessed during the initial interrogation to killing his wife. Police have described the incident as an honour killing.

Police said the suspect stated during the preliminary investigation that he considered the victim a “party girl” and killed her in the name of honour.

Police also recovered an alleged murder weapon, a pistol, and the vehicle allegedly used in the crime from the suspects.

Further investigation of the arrested suspects is underway to determine the actual motive behind the killing and the role of each suspect in the incident.
