TIMERGARA, May 10: People staged protest against the police for beating up a resident of Balambat area in Lower Dir district.
The demonstrators also blocked the Timergara-Peshawar road in protest, asking the authorities to take action against the policemen who had allegedly misused their powers by torturing a resident of the area.
Speaking to TNN, one Muhammad Umar accused the police of torturing him. “Policemen were walking in my fields and I forbade them to walk on the crops. Later, they came to my shop, closed the door, and started beating me up. I fell unconscious due to the torture,” he added.
The local police, however, said they had started investigation and that they would take action against the officials found involved in the incident.
