PESHAWAR, October 28: The police have foiled an attempt by some people to shift the machinery of Mufti Mehmood Flyover project to Punjab and arrested seven people.

A few months ago, the provincial government cancelled the contract of flyover project and imposed 50 million rupees fine on the contractor, Chaudhary Tariq Hussain, for failing to complete the flyover in due time.

The Deputy Commissioner, Mr Zaheerul Islam, says he received the information regarding the shifting of machinery last night and later he directed the police to cordon off the Motorway and GT Road.

He added that the police seized the machinery including roller, loader and other goods and also arrested seven drivers during the action.

The police authorities say that deputy commissioner have briefed the PDA to take strict action against the workers who deal with machinery goods.

The deputy commissioner also issued arrest warrant for the contractor and contacted the Islamabad Police for assistance in this respect.
