Peshawar police have solved the murder case of ASI Safdar Khan by arresting two suspects, including a fellow police officer, and recovering the murder weapon.

According to SSP Operations Masood Bangash, ASI Safdar Khan, who was posted at the Pahari Pura Police Station, was killed last month near the Tillarzai Bridge.

Initially, it was suspected that the attack was carried out by terrorists. However, during the investigation, it was revealed that the murder was committed by his own colleague, police constable Sanaullah.

The SSP said the accused Sanaullah was also stationed at Pahari Pura. Investigations found that a family dispute over a marriage proposal involving the suspect’s brother was the motive behind the killing.

The proposal had been arranged with acquaintances of ASI Safdar Khan but was later called off, leading the accused to believe that Safdar Khan had sided with the opposing party.

Masood Bangash added that Sanaullah also feared the rival family might harm him and suspected that Safdar Khan was helping them. Police have arrested both suspects and launched further investigations.
