
PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday stopped private schools from increasing in annual admission-free and collecting summer vacation fee from students till further order of the court in the case.
The order was issued by a two-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth and Justice Naeem Anwar while hearing writ petition filed by Zahidullah Zahid advocate saying that private schools are violating the Supreme Court of Pakistan judgment and collecting summer vacation fee and have also increased annual admission free.
The court in the previous hearing of the case has issued stay order and now the order has been further extended a collection of summer fees and notices were issued to KP private school regulatory authority and private schools.
The case was adjourned till September 24.
“Parents should not be forced to pay summer vacations and transport fees,” said the advocate. “Private school administration is demanding summer vacations fees and transport fees in violation of earlier court orders that no such fee will be received from parents.”
Nazish Musaffar Advocate also appeared in the court and argued that despite the court order, school owners are charging fees School administrators are not letting children in school without collecting fees. She added Children being harassed in schools are being mentally tortured.
After hearing the arguments, the court extended the stay order on September 24 and ordered to present records on next hearing. The CJ said that on next hearing, they will hear the case and will issue a verdict.
Petitioner withdraws case against Army Chief extension
Peshawar High Court (PHC) disposed of the petition against the extension of Chief of Army Staff tenure after the petition withdrawn it. The case was heard by Chief Justice PHC Waqar Ahmed Seth and Justice Naeem Anwar.
Attorney General Anwar Mansoor and Advocate General Shamil Butt appeared in court. “For the first time, Attorney General has come, we have a case against top functionaries,” Chief Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth remarked.
“Notification was taken from Face book. A wrong notification has been brought to the court,” Attorney General told the court adding that the petitioner has also withdrawn the writ petition.
Petitioner Shahid Orakzai who was present during the hearing said that he wants to withdraw the case. “What is the reason, are you scared?” Chief Justice asks the petitioner, however, he could not provide a response and the bench disposed of the case.
