Unidentified attackers on Wednesday morning martyred a police officer in the limits of Inqilab police station on city’s outskirts.

Police officials identified the official as Inspector Sehar Gul working as reserve inspector of the Frontier Reserve Police. The official, according to police official was driving his children home, when he came under attack.

Police source said that four attackers riding on two bikes opened fire with AK-47 rifles and escape from the scene. However,, the official’s children remained unhurt in the attack.

Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Ijaz Khan visited the crime scene and directed police officials to ensure arrest of the attackers as soon as possible. Mr Khan said also directed the officials to check CCTV footage from the area to identify the attackers.

The funeral prayers of the martyr officer were offered at the Malik Saad Shaheed police lines.

This is fourth attack on law enforcement officials since May 17. Earlier on May 17, an Intelligence Bureau officials were martyred in attack on Circular Road. Besides, SHO Shapur police station Shakeel Khan was martyred in a attack last Thursday. Two Sikhs were shot dead by unknown attackers on May 15.
