PESHAWAR, April 24: Leaders of various political parties and parliamentarians held a meeting in the federal capital Islamabad to discuss reforms in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

The leaders representing Awami National Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, Qaumi Watan Party and members of the National Assembly and Senate attended the meeting.

After the meeting, Mushahid Hussain Syed, Ajmal Wazir and Afrasiyab Khattak told journalists that the political party leaders demanded transfer of powers – regarding lawmaking for FATA – from the president of Pakistan to the parliament.

They said the meeting had also recommended holding the local government elections and implementation of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority laws in the tribal region.
