
BAJAUR: Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) distributed Ramazan food package among low-income families of Bajaur tribal district. In this regard, a function was held at Bajaur Sports Complex in Khar, where Additional Deputy Commissioner Mehmood Ahmad Khan was the chief guest.
Khan distributed the food package among 200 poor and needy families of the district and appreciated the PRCS for initiating the scheme to provide basic food items to the poor during the holy month of Ramazan.
He added that such scheme was vital to ensure foods to the people of Bajaur as the resident of Bajaur are extremely poor and most of people are living below the poverty line. He called upon the international and national organizations and well- off people of the district to come forward and support PRCS in such schemes in the region.
Pakistan Red Crescent Society local chapter Secretary Tariq Zaman said the food package was donated by the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) with aims to ensure foods to the most vulnerable people in the holy month of Ramazan. He said that those selected for the food package were the most deserving persons, including widows, orphans and persons with physical disabilities.
He said that every food package is 30 Kg which includes rice, sugar, cooking oil, beans, dates, tea and drinks. The beneficiaries on the occasion thanked the PRCS for giving the food package to them, adding that they are glad to get such valuable food package in the holy month of Ramazan.
Food Authority seals chips factories, bakery
MARDAN: Three chips factories and a bakery were sealed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hilal Food Authority here in Mardan for selling unhygienic and sub-standard food items. The authority officials told media that the Assistant Director Rahim al Aziz conducted raids on various food outlets on Mardan-Swabi road.
It was added that during the search they found one bakery for using non-food artificial colours which is injurious to public health. They also closed three chips factories for using sub-standard oil which is one of the main reasons for cancer.
