SHANGLA, November 29: The residents of Bisham area of Shangla district have staged a protest demonstration against the construction of Karora Power Station.
Thousands of protesters blocked the road leading to Swat district for over three hours and chanted slogans against the construction of the power station. Due to blockage of the busy road, passengers faced difficulties in reaching their destinations.
The protesters vowed to continue agitation till a comprehensive agreement was reached with them for royalty and other facilities to the people that will be affected from the project.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has initiated a project to construct 350 small power stations in different areas of the province. This project also includes 11.8 megawatts Karora Power Station.
