PESHAWAR, September 29: After holding rallies against the government in Lahore city, the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf has announced to stage demonstrations in Mianwali and Multan districts of Punjab as well.
The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehrik activists have been protesting in the federal capital Islamabad since 14 August, asking Prime Minister Mr Mian Nawaz Sharif to resign and hold re-elections.
Addressing the party’s rally in Lahore on 28 September, PTI chief Mr Imran Khan said that the more the prime minister delayed his resignation, the more efforts the PTI would make to convey its message to Pakistanis.
Mr Khan said that a recent report of the Election Commission had proved that the elections in 2013 had been rigged. He said his party raised voice against the rigging in the parliament, but that they later took to the streets when their voice was not heard.
The vice chairman of PTI, Mr Shah Mehmood Qureshi, said hundreds of thousands of people participated in the Lahore rally and that such gatherings would now be held in Mianwali and Multan as well.
