PESHAWAR, May 5: The shopkeepers affected by the Qissa Khwani bomb explosion staged a protest against the government for not extending them compensation for the losses they suffered in the terror act on September 29 last year.

The protesters gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club and claimed that the genuine victims of the bombing had not received compensation while those who had been compensated were not deserving that.

A protestor Zaffar Khattak told TNN, “Unfortunately, the compensation was distributed on basis of political affiliation and many deserving traders were ignored.”

The provincial government has distributed compensation more than 10 million rupees among 36 traders for the Qissa Khwani bomb that had claimed at least 50 lives and demolished more than 60 shops.
