Heavy rain accompanied by thunder, strong winds, and hailstorm hit Mingora and surrounding areas in Swat district, breaking the spell of intense heat and turning the weather pleasant.
According to the Meteorological Department, this wet weather pattern is likely to continue for the next 24 hours. Tourists and commuters have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and adopt precautionary measures.
The National Emergency Operations Centre has also issued a weather advisory, warning of thunderstorms and rain in various parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the next 24 hours.

Rain is expected in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Lahore, Narowal, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mianwali, and Sialkot districts of Punjab. In KP, the districts of Mardan, Peshawar, Swabi, Charsadda, Nowshera, Battagram, Mansehra, and Abbottabad are likely to be affected.
Meanwhile, most districts of Sindh and Balochistan continue to experience extremely hot and dry weather. On Thursday, Sibi in Balochistan recorded the highest temperature in the country at a scorching 51°C.
The Meteorological Department has urged citizens to take safety precautions amid the extreme weather, especially those traveling through mountainous regions prone to landslides.
