The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert to district administrations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, warning of rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms from July 24 to 27.

According to the PDMA, there is a risk of landslides in the upper districts, including Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, and Abbottabad. The authority has also warned of possible flash floods in local streams and seasonal waterways in vulnerable areas.

A PDMA spokesperson said that strong winds and lightning may damage standing crops, weak structures, electricity poles, signboards, and solar panels.

The authority has directed district administrations to take precautionary measures in vulnerable areas, closely monitor rivers, streams, and seasonal waterways, keep major roads open for traffic, and ensure the timely deployment of Rescue 1122 teams in case of any emergency.

The public has been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during rainfall, stay away from rivers and streams, refrain from crossing floodwaters, and keep children away from streams, stagnant water, and open pits.

PDMA has also urged farmers to take necessary steps to protect their crops and advised livestock owners to move their animals to safe locations during heavy rain and strong winds.
