Rain Triggers Roof Collapses in Khyber and Karak, Three Dead, Two Injured

Residents helped retrieve the victims from the debris before the injured and deceased were shifted to a hospital in Kohat for medical treatment.

KHYBER/KARAK: Three people, including a woman and two children, lost their lives. In contrast, two others sustained injuries in roof collapse incidents caused by heavy rain in Khyber and Karak districts on Sunday.

In Khyber’s Mullagori area of Lora Mena, a woman was killed when the roof of her room caved in early morning due to rain. 

According to residents, Rescue 1122 teams rushed her to a nearby hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries before arrival. The deceased was a Hafiza of the Quran and a teacher who ran a madrassa at her home.

Meanwhile, in Karak’s Teri area, the roof of a mud house collapsed during the downpour, resulting in the deaths of two children and severe injuries to a woman and another child. 

DSP Banda Daud Shah Javed Hassan confirmed that seven-year-old Muhammad and four-year-old Iqra died on the spot, while their mother and brother sustained serious injuries.

Police stated that the house belonged to an Afghan refugee. Residents helped retrieve the victims from the debris before the injured and deceased were shifted to a hospital in Kohat for medical treatment.
