A Nowshera woman who had jumped into River Kabul along with her three children to commit suicide was safely rescued by the Rescue 1122 personnel on Wednesday.

Police said that the woman belonged to Masalabad area of Nowshera Kalan and apparently she tried to commit suicide due to poverty.

On the other hand, Rescue 1122 said that the woman was accompanied her three kids of six, four and three years age.

The rescuers shifted the woman and her children to the Nowshera Cantt.

The woman later told police that her husband was jobless and they had nothing to eat. “The floods have rendered our family penniless and I cannot see my children go hungry and naked,” she said.

“I am fed up with this miserable existence,” she said.

The woman said that she left her home along with children without having breakfast and walked on foot with her kids to reach the bridge.
