DI KHAN, May 21: Two employees of the Pakistan Post were killed and as many injured when unidentified robbers attacked a van of the General Post Office (GPO) on Deenpur Road in DI Khan district.
The police say two motorcyclists intercepted the van and opened fire, killing head postman Gulzar Hussain and security guard Javed Shah on the spot in the limits of the Cantonment Police Station. Another security guard Saleem Haider and driver Niamatullah sustained injuries in the attack.
The robbers also took away the uncounted cash present in the van, they said, adding that the bodies and injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.
The GPO officials were on duty of cash collection from various post offices in the adjoining villages. The police registered a case.
