PESHAWAR, October 28: Alif Ailaan, a non-government organisation working in the education sector, in collaboration with the Teachers Association, observed Salaam Teachers Day.
The event was aimed to honour teachers and to acknowledge their services for society.
Addressing a ceremony, speakers said teachers should not be pressured to engage in unfair and illegal practices and that they should be let carry out their duties honestly.
The Alif Ailaan coordinator, Mr Umer Orakzai, said that approximately 2.5 million children were deprived of schooling in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. he added that 22,000 teachers were required for the schools in the province.
“We don’t help them, we want to vocalise them instead. Previously, a female teacher joined us but she was transferred to Swabi district. She belonged to Kohat, due to which she had the same issue as well. We listened to them and assured them that we will bring their problems into notice of authorities,” he added.
