Today, security forces conducted a significant search operation in Torkham Bazaar and surrounding areas in Khyber District following reports of possible terrorist presence.
During the operation, Torkham Bazaar was completely shut down, and a door-to-door search was reportedly carried out in the local vicinity. Security forces also inspected the warehouses in the market.
In addition, the Torkham border crossing was closed to all types of traffic, and movement beyond the Machni checkpoint towards Torkham Bazaar was restricted.
Residents were instructed by security forces to stay indoors and adhere to safety guidelines. This heightened security comes in the wake of a recent attack on a security checkpoint in Tirah, where three personnel were killed and 12 others, including a captain, were injured. Furthermore, police vehicles in the Warsak area of Peshawar have also been targeted by explosions twice in recent days.
