Khyber: Brigadier Commander of the 27th Brigade has issued a critical warning to residents of Tirah Valley, advising them to relocate temporarily to safer areas ahead of a potential large-scale operation against terrorists.
The announcement came during a key jirga held with local elders and tribal leaders, where the commander emphasized that civilians must avoid involvement in any clashes with militants and extend full cooperation to security forces.
He assured the jirga that steps would be taken to ensure the safe evacuation of locals during the operation. Temporary checkpoints will be established, and public cooperation will be essential for their protection.

A jirga member, speaking anonymously, revealed that security forces hinted at the demolition or burning of properties belonging to terrorist facilitators. The elders were explicitly instructed not to intervene in such actions. The jirga was also informed that drone strikes would be deployed if necessary, and residents were urged to keep their children and youth away from militants to avoid casualties.
Elders expressed concern, noting that militants have forcibly taken shelter in local guesthouses (hujras) for food and lodging, stressing that such acts should not label them as facilitators. The commander ordered that the message be broadcast through loudspeakers to ensure everyone is informed, minimizing civilian casualties during the operation.
In a related incident, four mortar shells were fired from an unknown direction in the suburban area of Nurar, Bannu district. Two shells exploded near the Tochi River in an empty field, while two others struck Kabali Road, injuring two civilians identified as Aftab Ali and Nasir. Both have been transported to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating the origin and intent of the attack, noting that recent military operations against militants have been conducted in the Ghora Baka Khel area within the jurisdiction of Miryan Police Station.
