PESHAWAR, May 31: Participants of a seminar called for establishing separate courts for the children less than 18 years of age.
A social welfare organisation working for child rights, DOST, held an advocacy seminar in the provincial capital Peshawar.
Judges of different courts, police officers and other officials of different departments were invited to the seminar held at a local hotel.
A state lawyer, Mr Muhammad Akram, told TNN, “If a child does something unlawful, we cannot call him criminal and his case should be forwarded in a way that does not affect his childhood. He must be facilitated as much as possible within the ambit of law. If charges are proved against him/her, they must be administered a punishment that just puts him on right track but does not harm his future.”
