
PESHAWAR, November 10: Residents of Gunj locality in the provincial capital have demanded the government to compensate them for the damage caused to their homes by sewerage in the area.
In recent past, the authorities declared more than 20 houses as being risky because of the faulty sewerage system in Gunj.
The affectees say they have spent all of the resources on their houses, which have not become insecure and not worthy to be used. They said the government should give them the compensation that has already been announced for them.
“We have vacated our risky houses and now living on rents. We don’t have money to pay rent. We demand the government pay us compensation and also arrange money for our monthly house rents. Even the chief minister had visited our area and assured to assist us, but nothing practical could be done so far,” said one of the affected residents.
A few days ago, the provincial government announced to stat releasing a monthly payment of 20,000 rupees each to the affected families.
