Two karate fighters from Landi Kotal in Khyber district have won gold medals at the fifth National Dream Cup Karate Festival held at the DHA Gymnasium in Lahore.

Pakhtun Yar Shinwari secured the gold medal in the 56kg category, while Abbas Shinwari clinched gold in the heavyweight category, bringing recognition to Khyber district and Landi Kotal.

The event was organized by the Pakistan Full Contact Karate Federation and brought together athletes and coaches from across the country. The Khyber team participated under the leadership of Nisar Shinwari, designated Branch Chief of World Shin Kyokushin Karate and a senior coach.

Speaking to the media, Nisar Shinwari said the National Dream Cup was among Pakistan’s major full-contact karate competitions, attracting some of the country’s top fighters.

He said the performances of Pakhtun Yar and Abbas demonstrated the talent of athletes from the tribal districts and highlighted their potential to compete at national and international levels.

The event was held under the supervision of Shihan Muhammad Arshad Jan, president of the Pakistan Full Contact Karate Federation, board member of the World Karate Organization Asia and a veteran of the sport.

Nisar Shinwari said that under Shihan Muhammad Arshad Jan’s leadership, full-contact karate was being promoted in Pakistan in an organized manner. He added that open trials for international competitions were also held at the federation’s Lahore headquarters, providing athletes from Khyber district an opportunity to compete.

He welcomed efforts to encourage talented young athletes and provide them with opportunities to represent Pakistan at international championships.
