BARA, October 18: Six militants and a soldier were killed in a clash in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency.
Security officials say the militants attacked Aziz Market and Sheikhano checkpost in Akakhel area last night but the security forces foiled the attack. In the retaliatory fire, the security forces killed six militants while a security personnel also died in the crossfire.
Tribesman shot dead during curfew
Meanwhile TNN correspondent says a tribesman Mr Shan Haider was killed in the security forces’ firing during curfew in the area of Malikdin Khel. Mr Haider’s brother was injured in the firing.
Two days ago, the security forces launched the “Operation Khyber 1” against militants in Khyber Agency, which has been home to the banned tribal militia Lashkar-e-Islam, though militants of the Tehrik-e-Taliban and other local organisation like Ansarul Islam are also present in the region.
