For the first time, farmers in Landi Kotal, Khyber District, have successfully cultivated Chong—a highly bitter vegetable—thanks to technical support from the agriculture department.
The experiment, conducted in small garden beds and pots, proved that Chong (Caralluma tuberculata) could thrive in the local environment.

After harvesting, farmers carefully pack the produce to maintain its freshness for market sale. The agriculture department provided essential guidance on seed selection, irrigation, temperature management, and disease prevention.
Farmers believe this success will encourage more cultivation of Chong in the region, paving the way for agricultural growth and new opportunities for local farming communities.
