A suicide bombing followed by a coordinated armed assault was reported on Friday in the Boya Kalay area of North Waziristan, raising fears of casualties.
According to initial reports, a vehicle entered the fort premises and exploded shortly afterwards, triggering a large blast.
Soon after the explosion, four attackers reportedly stormed the fort and opened fire on security forces.

Security personnel responded promptly, killing three of the attackers, while an exchange of fire with the fourth assailant was still ongoing at the time of the last reports.
Sources said the sound of the explosion was so intense that it was heard as far as Miranshah city, around 25 kilometres away.
Following the incident, security in the area was put on high alert, and traffic on a key highway was temporarily suspended as forces continued clearance and security operations.
