The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has taken action over illegal gold mining and the extraction of sand and gravel from the Indus River in Nowshera, suspending the Assistant Commissioner of Jahangira along with one Grade-18 officer and three Grade-17 officers. 

Additionally, DSPs of Akora Khattak Circle and Risalpur Circle, along with SHOs of six police stations, have been transferred.

According to sources, illegal gold mining at Nizampur in the Indus River and illegal sand and gravel extraction at Misri Banda caused losses worth millions of rupees to the national exchequer.

 Immediate action was taken due to alleged criminal negligence in this matter.

The suspended officers include Assistant Commissioner Jahangira Inam-ur-Rehman, Assistant Commissioner Kohat-III Ms. Anam Mehmood, Additional Assistant Commissioner Lachi (Kohat), AD Minerals Nowshera Arifullah, and Deputy Director Minerals Kohat Muhammad Ijaz.

On the other hand, the police department also took action by transferring DSP Akora Khattak Circle Jawad Khan, DSP Risalpur Circle, and SHOs of six police stations.

The government has also directed the anti-corruption establishment to conduct a complete investigation into the incident so that those responsible can be identified and further legal action can be taken.
