A student who succumbed to injuries after allegedly being subjected to brutal corporal punishment by teachers at a madrassa in the Chaliyar area of Tehsil Khwazakhela has prompted a wider investigation, which has uncovered further evidence of abuse of other students.
Following the incident, police sealed the religious seminary and arrested one of the accused teachers. A manhunt is underway for two other suspects believed to be involved in the fatal beating.
According to the District Police Officer (DPO) Swat, the investigation revealed additional signs of abuse involving other children enrolled at the madrassa. In response, police launched an immediate operation and detained nine more individuals.
Authorities have registered a case under the Child Protection Act and formally initiated legal proceedings.
The DPO stated that items used in the physical abuse of students were recovered from the seminary, confirming that the children had been subjected to torture for several months. The seminary has been sealed, and all enrolled children have been handed over to their parents.
DPO Swat further emphasized that those found guilty of abusing children will not be pardoned under any circumstances and will be brought to justice.
