MINGORA, August 28: The nine-day Sports Festival, organised by American relief organisation USAID and Provincial Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Settlement Authority (PaRRSA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, has concluded in Swat district.
On 27 August, the final match of football tournament was played by the Swat Red and Swat Green teams, with the Swat Red winning the event. Till the end time, the match remained equal but in the penalty kicks round, the Swat Red team won the match 4-3.
A football player, Mr Muhammad Ilyas, told TNN that if government and private organisations offer support to youth, the area could produce best football players who need a platform.
“We can give a good football team to Pakistan if youth in Swat are given opportunity. Local people really like football game, that’s why a big number of people come to see the match,” he added.
Cricket, volleyball and badminton competitions were also held in the sports festival.
