
MINGORA, 11 July: Residents of Swat mostly go to the riverside to beat the unbearable heat however this year Swat River has swallowed 10 persons.
Talking to TNN at the riverside, locals said that they visit the river due to scorching heat and excessive power outages. Those who go the middle of the river are mostly swept away by gushing cold water, they said. They urged the district administration to ban swimming at the dangerous fast-flowing places and signboards should also be erected warning the masses not to swim in dangerous zones.
When contacted, Mingora Assistant Commissioner Ashfaq Khan said steps are being taken to avert people from swimming in dangerous fast-flowing sites of the Swat River and signboards would also be erected soon.
