In North Waziristan, the relentless series of target killings continues unabated after Operation Zarb-e-Azb. On Tuesday, Kamran Dawar, a young journalist and social worker, was tragically killed by unknown assailants.

According to police reports, Kamran Dawar was shot in front of his house in the village of Tapi. Dawar, well-known in Waziristan, ran a popular Facebook page called Waziristan TV. Three months ago, he had received death threats from unidentified individuals. He had shared these threats with friends and members of the Miranshah Press Club. Dawar's funeral was held at 4 pm today in his native village of Tapi.

Statistics reveal that 670 people have fallen victim to target killings in North Waziristan to date, with the majority of incidents occurring in Tehsil Mir Ali. Village Tapi, located in Tehsil Miranshah, has particularly suffered, with 27 residents murdered in targeted attacks so far.

Just two weeks ago, Rahmanullah, the former district chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, was also killed by unknown attackers in Tapi. This village was also the site of an assassination attempt on NDM Chairman Mohsin Dawar during an election, although he survived the attack.

The ongoing violence underscores the severe security challenges faced by residents in North Waziristan, highlighting the urgent need for effective measures to restore peace and safety in the region.
