PESHAWAR, May 11: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has declared the subject of technical skills compulsory for students of class 6 to 8.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on 10 May. The chief minister said the authorities had been simply issuing technical education degrees to students and spending billions of rupees but that the graduates were not adept at practical work.

The participants of the meeting decided to grant admissions to students in technical education institutions while keeping in view the needs and demands of the factories and market.
