MARDAN, October 28: The Anti-Corruption Police have arrested a tehsildar over charge of illegal transfer of land ownership.
M Ziaul Hassan, the anti-coruption assistant director, that a widow had complained to him that Tehsildar Mr Asghar Shah and Patwari Muhammad Shah had allegedly transferred ownership of her land to someone else.
He added that they arrested Mr Asghar Shah after an inquiry while investigation against Mr Muhammad Shah was under way till filing of this report.
A tehsildar is an official of the revenue department in Pakistan and he receives taxation from a tehsil. The role of tehsildar, which continued during the period of British rule, was later used by Pakistan and India following their independence in 1947.
