Third Deputy Commissioner All-Pakistan Volleyball Tournament Concludes in Upper Dir

Thousands of spectators from various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa gathered at the Dir Sports Complex to witness the exciting day-and-night matches, despite the cold weather.

The District Sports Office of Upper Dir, in collaboration with the district administration, successfully organized the ten-day Third Deputy Commissioner All-Pakistan Volleyball Tournament at the Sports Complex. The qualifying rounds began on August 14, featuring 25 teams, while the main event commenced on August 18 with 16 volleyball teams from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa competing.

In a thrilling final, Fareed Club Wari from Upper Dir defeated Akram Jani Club Dagi from Swabi to claim the championship title. Thousands of spectators from various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa gathered at the Dir Sports Complex to witness the exciting day-and-night matches, despite the cold weather.

The tournament was inaugurated on August 14 by Deputy Commissioner Naveed Akbar, DPO Waqar Ahmed, and MPA Muhammad Anwar Khan. Speaking at the event, the officials emphasized the importance of such tournaments in enhancing the skills of volleyball players and steering the youth away from negative activities through positive sports engagements.

Deputy Commissioner Naveed Akbar highlighted that the district administration has also organized tournaments for cricket, football, basketball, tug-of-war, badminton, and other sports and will continue to promote such positive activities in the future. MPA Muhammad Anwar Khan thanked the players and spectators from Dir and across the province for their participation, stating that sports not only foster better relationships among the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also provide an opportunity for them to enjoy the scenic beauty and cool weather of Upper Dir in August.

The tournament saw participation from various teams, including KP Police, Mohammad Shah Mohmand, Wisal Club Karak, Salman Club Dhaki, Imdad Club Pashtun Garhi, Bilal Club Banda Nabi Shah, Farooq Club Swat, Mushtaq Mohmand Club, Akram Jani Club Dagi Swabi, Fareed Club Wari Abid Junior, Sami Club Waziristan, Yasir Club Swabi, Junaid Club Jehangira, Nowshera Tunder, and Tutan Banda Swat.

In the final, Fareed Club Wari emerged victorious, while Akram Jani Club Swabi secured the second position. The closing ceremony featured MPA Muhammad Anwar Khan Advocate, District Sports Officer Sadiqullah, and DSP Headquarters Fakhar-e-Alam, who presented trophies, shields, and cash prizes of Rs. 100,000 to the winning team and Rs. 50,000 to the runners-up.
