MIRANSHAH/WANA, May 19: Three more polio cases were confirmed in North and South Waziristan tribal agencies, raising the number of polio cases to 66 in Pakistan this year.
A statement from the Prime Minister Polio Control Cell says the poliovirus was confirmed in 22-month old Waqas, of North Waziristan, and 6-month old Aqsa and 22-month old Romania, of South Waziristan.
The polio cases in North Waziristan have reached 44 this year. Also, five polio cases have been reported from South Waziristan, 2 from Khyber Agency and 9 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The militants have banned the anti-polio vaccination in North and South Waziristan agencies for the last several years.
