PESHAWAR, November 14: Another three children have been affected by polio in the FATA region, according to the National Institute of Health (NIH).

A statement from the NIH says that two of the victims hail from Khyber Agency and one from North Waziristan tribal region.

Around 158 children have been identified in tribal areas, 49 cases have been reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 25 from Sindh, 11 from Balochistan and three polio cases from Punjab in the country this year.

Pakistani nationals have already been directed to produce polio vaccination certificates before travelling abroad.

The Prime Minister, Mr Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, has called a meeting of authorities of all the four provinces to discuss the alarming increase in the poliovirus cases in the country. Recently the prime minister vowed to eradicate the disease from the country within six months.
