
KHAR, 12 July: Three security personnel have been killed and two others injured in an attack by militants from Afghanistan in Mamond tehsil of Bajaur Agency.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the Afghan attackers fired shots on a checkpost in Ghakhi Pas area, killing a captain of the Pakistan Army and two other personnel. Those injured were hospitalised.
Security forces also claim to have killed several militants in retaliatory fire.
Such attacks are frequent in Bajaur agency, which shares a 52-kilomtere border with Kunnar province of Afghanistan. The Pakistani foreign office has protested in the past and raised the cross-border militant incursions with Afghan authorities.
Bajaur is smallest of the tribal agencies in Pakistan and has a hilly terrain. The headquarters of the agency administration is located in the town of Khar.
