Tribal News Network (TNN) has invited applications from climate and environmental journalists across Pakistan for a five-day training programme aimed at strengthening climate journalism, reporting skills and journalist safety.
The training is being organised under the Climate Journalism Network Pakistan (CJNP) initiative and will focus particularly on journalists reporting on climate change and environmental issues affecting rural communities.
According to TNN, the selected participants will receive five days of practical training on climate journalism and journalist safety, along with mentoring and guidance from an experienced journalist.
Participants will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively on climate and environmental stories, with support to develop reports highlighting issues faced by rural communities.
Following the training, the participating journalists will work under the supervision of a mentor to produce collaborative stories. TNN said the stories will be published through its partner local media outlets in rural areas, helping bring the voices and environmental challenges of rural communities to a wider audience.
The programme will run from July 2026 to February 2027.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have at least one year of professional journalism experience and should preferably be based in and reporting from rural areas.
They must also have published at least three climate- or environment-related stories during the past 12 months and are required to provide working links to each of the three published stories.
TNN has particularly encouraged women journalists to apply and said it is committed to ensuring that at least 40 percent of the selected journalists are women.
The organisation warned that applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria or fail to include the required story links will not be considered.
The initiative aims to strengthen a network of journalists reporting on climate change and environmental issues while giving greater visibility to the experiences and concerns of communities in rural Pakistan.
Interested journalists can apply through the application link provided by TNN.
