PESHAWAR, July 26: Though the government has banned sale of toy guns in the country in order to protect children from negative trends like violence, a big variety of toy guns are being sold in the markets of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
A psychiatrist of the Khyber Teaching Hospital in Peshawar, Dr Bashir, says the toy guns could divert the minds of children towards extremism while some toy guns also have bullets that can render a child blind if hit in the eye.
“Whenever we buy a toy gun for children, you may observe that the children keep on trying to attack each other and use the words like ‘I opened fire on you’ and ‘I killed you’. It negatively affects the mind of minor children. Nowadays there are many other good toys available in the markets and people can buy them for the children, instead of toy guns,” he added.
Local residents have demanded implementation of the law banning the toy guns.
