PESHAWAR, May 22: The district administration has arrested a number of traders for allegedly selling substandard food items and overcharging customers.
Assistant Commissioner Mumtaz Ahmad says they carried out the operation in Chargano Chowk, Faqirabad area where some shopkeepers were selling expensive but substandard food items. He said they had also fined the shopkeepers 5,000 rupees to 40,000 rupees.
Mr Mumtaz told TNN, “These shopkeepers had hidden the pricelist that should be visible to customers. We will take action against all those shopkeepers and will imprison them, besides imposition of fine.”
On the other hand, a fined trader told TNN, “My son is admitted in a hospital and I am an elderly man. In future, I will not do any unlawful thing.”
