PESHAWAR, May 19: Unidentified gunmen have killed a traffic policeman in the provincial capital Peshawar.
The police say Mr Muslim Khan was on duty near Ramdas Bazaar at morning when unidentified armed motorcyclists sprayed him with bullets. He was shifted to local hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak later asked authorities to provide the bereaved family the Shuhada Package (martyrs package), which includes 3 million rupees cash amount, free education to the deceased’s children and government job to one of his offspring.
In separate incident, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a motorcar in Daudzai area, injuring three people. The police said the car was travelling from Naguman village to the city when it was ambushed.
The target killing spree has panicked the residents of the provincial capital nowadays. On 13 May, unidentified armed men shot dead a leader of the Awami National Party, Mr Anwarul Haq, prompting the political party workers to stage protests. A police guard was killed while he was on duty outside a mosque on 16 May.
