PESHAWAR: Three children were drowned why swimming in water pool in subdivision Bethani area on Thursday which also includes two sisters.
The area was earlier the part of FR Lakki. Local sources reported that the first incident was reported from Shadi Khel where two sisters were bathing but the water overcome them and they couldn’t survive the deep water pool.
Local people further informed that they have tried their best to retrieve both the girls alive but they failed and only recovered their dead-bodies. The little girls were identified three years old Sumaira and three-year-old Umera, both sisters. The dead bodies were handed over to the bereaved family.
The second tragedy was reported from Baigan area of the subdivision Bethani where 4-year-old Zia Ullah drowned flood stream. Local people said that they have recovered his dead body from the water and was handed over to the family.
On July 22, three children were drowned in river Gambela in Kot Kashmir area of district Lakki Marwat. The children were bathing in the river when the incident occurred and they were swept away by speeding waves of water. Local people said the media that among the victims are two brothers and their first cousin. Local rescuers have recovered dead bodies from the river and were handed over to the bereaved family.
In Nowshera district, a boat caught fire in the middle of river Kabul, however, no human loss was reported and all the people on board were brought to the riverside safely. The boat riding is in full swing after the Eidul Azha despite the ban imposed by the district administration to prevent any untoward situation. However in Kund Park the activity is in full swing since Eid day without any safety gear.
The ban was imposed after the July 3, 2019 incident when 50 people including women and children were drowned when the boat travelling to Haripur from Shangla’s Dedal Kamach area capsized in the Indus River at Tarbela, Haripur district.
