HANGU: Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and police forces killed a key commander of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), identified as Saeed, during a joint operation in the Shna warai area of Hangu. However, his accomplices managed to escape.
According to police, the operation was launched based on intelligence reports regarding the presence of militants in the area, leading to an intense exchange of fire.
The slain militant, Saeed, was reportedly involved in the killing of police officer Qudratullah. Security forces recovered a Kalashnikov, two hand grenades, and an Afghan SIM card from his possession. A search operation is underway to track down the fleeing militants.

The operation was carried out at a time when the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had decided to continue kinetic operations against militants. The decision was made during a high-level security meeting on Tuesday, chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, where a counterterrorism action plan was finalized.
The government aims to restore public confidence in the state’s security apparatus and ensure strict enforcement of counterterrorism laws. Operations against militants will continue as part of these efforts.
