Two new cases of polio have been confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, bringing the province's total to five in 2025, according to the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).

The latest cases have been reported from Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts. The EOC spokesperson said that a 28-month-old boy from Bannu and a 26-month-old girl from Lakki Marwat have tested positive for the virus.

The National Institute of Health (NIH) in Islamabad has confirmed both cases. This marks the second polio case reported from Bannu this year, while earlier cases were detected in Torghar, Dera Ismail Khan, and Lakki Marwat.

So far in 2025, a total of 10 polio cases have been reported across Pakistan—half of them from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which remains a high-risk region for the disease.
